Timbuktu by Paul Auster is an incredible and underrated novel

– I first heard about this book along with The Adventures of Augie March in a song. 15 or so years later I decided to pick it up. It’s about a dying homeless man trying to find a home for his dog. The whole thing is told through the eyes of our canine hero Mr. Bones. The thing absolutely floored me. I cried several times. This book conveys exactly what it’s like to be a dog. (I should know being a dog myself.) This book is funny at times, thrilling and, crushing all in one. I think this is an important and thought-provoking read.
The song was Put a Penny in the Slot by Fionn Regan if anyone was interested.
